As of the 3rd of September 2017 we will be no longer opening on Sundays. This is not a decision we have taken lightly but my family have been telling me for years to take time off or at least close for a day a week. In September Albert is off to Uni. and he is the member of staff who works with me on weekends so this seems like an opportune time to make the change.
I have worked 7 days a week for the last, nearly 8 years; not having a holiday and only closing around Christmas time for a few days. The work load of the move and also delivering in the evenings is now taking its toll and I cannot keep going 7 days a week.
We recently chose to open late on Mondays at 1pm as this is the quietest time of the week for us. This is still the case. However Sundays are fairly quiet too so this seems like the best day to close as we don’t have to do any deliveries in the evening. While we are still in our current location by the quays the late opening Mondays will still be in place but this may change in the new shop.
The current shop has to be decorated before we leave. Although we have nearly finished down stairs there is still a huge amount to do upstairs. We are going to need more time to get this completed as really we need two members of staff downstairs at all times. Closing on a Sunday also means that we can come up and get on with the decorating and not have to worry about who is coming in the shop.
I hope everyone understands the need for this change and that it does not inconvenience any of our customers too much.
